My dear friend, why would you put the whole church's faith on such a gamble or jeopardy?

Largest Project ever and Large Commitment from EVERYONE

its the largest project that the huaen church has ever embarked on,

EVERY single person is led to commit on doing it,

a commitment to read a book together and 靈修 using this book..

200 people x 30 min each x 90 days..

The Short Journey..

as you might have read from my journey earlier this month,

i had been having problem going through the book.

its disturbing, when reading and praying..

mainly due to the way the author quoted the bible, very loosely..

after a few days, i had decided to investigate the background more..

and sure enough the author is a leader in a Charismatic Seg mega-church in Singapore..

Charismatic, so?

i personally is "neutral" when approaching the Charismatic movement and Church Growth, and ceremony details..

it is undeniable that certain Church that employ Charismatic techniques has shown quantum growth.

and some of these had bear good fruits (not just in numbers).

just looking at the "Madonna Concert" type sermon online,

it is undeniable that these concert like shows are attractive to some younger generation believers.

(i'd counted at least 3 large video camera and lasers with 5-6 real person bands)

for now, i will not question the depth of the process..

Discipline in Bible Study

However, i have a strong believe in having Discipline when reading God's Word..

i.e. follow the text, the context, use bible to explain bible, understand the background, don't improvise, don't make things up just due to some strange feelings..

it might be ok to steer away once in a while on interpretation of the bible text,

but a "consistent pattern of inconsistency" is dangerous..

example:

Why would you put the whole people on such a test?

let's try not to be too academic on this

but there is no doubt that its a very fine line that these people are threading on..

the question is "why would you put the whole church on such a test?"

it is imperative this issue will blow up and likely hurt a lot of people..

what are we walking into?

there are so many unquestionably good book out there.. why this?

i must admit i have problem pushing myself to go through the 90 day thing of the City Harvest Church (singapore)

too much -ve thoughts and queries about the Charismatic nature of the writer and the book,

also the reasoning behind the book choice by Pastor Liu and crew..

this is supposed to be a simple commitment day in and out on communication with God..

thus i have decided to restart anew!!

day 3: HUMBLE













This day is quite interesting..

about humbleness..



the citation is actually quite nice,

Luke 12:16-21 (New International Version)

16And he told them this parable: "The ground of a certain rich man produced a good crop. 17He thought to himself, 'What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.'

18"Then he said, 'This is what I 'll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19And I'll say to myself, "You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry." '

who really is this guy?

does it matter..

the 2nd day's message was quite strange

the key message seems to be that the parents' spiritual well being will affect the descendent's..

however, the message quoted in Exodus does not have a lot of background
and seems like a lot of imagination has to go in to tie Moses' parents Spiritual well being to his..

the mention of 2 US person is even stranger..

but guess its fine as long as the key message come across.
or should our critical mind come to work at all time as a thinking discipline?

well, 30min gone (actually read the chapter when driving and when stopping at traffic)

day 1.. being loyal

this first chapter talks about a loyal servant, Moses,

1. the first 40 years of his life, he think he is somebody.. (the Egyptian Prince)
2. next 40 years, he become a exile, taught to be humble (the Shepard)
   
3. the last 40 years is when true great God's work is done through him..

the process takes long
40 years of proud and self-center ..
something to reflect on..
